Building BEST at CSCA

Belonging • Excellence • Scholarship • Tradition

At Colorado Springs Charter Academy, we are committed to cultivating the potential of each student by ensuring they are known, challenged, and supported. Through our commitment to Belonging, Excellence, Scholarship, and Tradition, we are Building BEST every day. This theme reflects who we are as a school community and what families can expect from a CSCA education: strong academics, meaningful relationships, character development, and a school experience rooted in purpose and shared values.

B — Belonging

At CSCA, belonging begins with the belief that every student should be known, valued, and supported. Our close-knit school community allows teachers and staff to build meaningful relationships with students and families. We want children to feel safe, connected, and confident as they grow academically and personally. Through classroom community, family partnership, school events, and a strong culture of care, students are welcomed into a school where they are seen as individuals and encouraged to contribute to the life of the community.

E — Excellence

Excellence at CSCA means holding students to high expectations while giving them the support they need to succeed. We believe students are capable of doing hard things, developing strong habits, and taking pride in their work. Our classrooms emphasize academic rigor, clear instruction, responsibility, perseverance, and character. Excellence is not simply about achievement; it is about helping students grow in effort, discipline, confidence, and integrity as they strive to do their best in all areas of school life.

S — Scholarship

Scholarship is at the heart of a CSCA education. Through a strong academic foundation and the Core Knowledge curriculum, students build background knowledge, vocabulary, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the world. Our traditional approach to instruction values rich content, strong literacy skills, mathematical reasoning, careful writing, and meaningful discussion. Students are encouraged to ask thoughtful questions, think deeply, work carefully, and develop the habits of lifelong learners. From reading and writing to science, history, mathematics, music, art, and cursive, scholarship at CSCA is about forming capable, curious, and confident students.

T — Tradition

Tradition connects our students, families, and staff to the values that make CSCA unique. We value time-honored practices that build discipline, pride, and a sense of shared identity, including uniforms, cursive handwriting, school assemblies, Core Virtues, family events, and meaningful celebrations throughout the year. These traditions help students understand that they are part of something larger than themselves.
