A Day in the Life of a Kindergarten Student
A kindergartner’s day at CSCA begins with a warm welcome at the door, where teachers greet each student by name and help them feel known and ready for the day. The morning begins with reading, where the student will practice important early literacy skills through stories, sounds, letters, and words. After time to play, socialize, and stretch their legs at recess, the student will return to the classroom for math, building number sense, problem-solving skills, and confidence. Midday brings lunch and another recess, giving the student time to connect with friends and enjoy movement outside. During recess, the student earns a Core Virtue slip for exhibiting Kindness when they saw a friend being left out of a game and went to play with them instead.
In the afternoon, the student will dive into Knowledge, where they explore rich topics in science, history, literature, and the world around them. Specials classes add creativity, movement, music, art, or Spanish to their day. During Lynx Intervention Time, the student will receive extra support or enrichment based on their individual learning needs. The day ends with one final recess followed by purposeful practice, such as cursive readiness, handwriting, or extra reading, helping the student finish the day with confidence and a sense of accomplishment.
A Day in the Life of a Third Grade Student
A third grader’s day at CSCA begins with a warm welcome at the door, where teachers greet each student by name and help them feel known and ready for the day. The morning begins with math. This student excels in math, so they attend the fourth-grade math class to best support and challenge their learning. After math, the student enjoys a morning recess where they can play, socialize, and return to class ready to learn.
Following recess, the student participates in a dedicated Reading block that includes reading, writing, grammar, and spelling. This time helps the student strengthen their literacy skills while building vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence as readers and writers. After lunch, the student continues their day with Lynx Time, a block designed for intervention, support, and enrichment based on individual learning needs. The student then goes to Specials, which includes either Spanish, PE, Art, or Music. The day ends with either Social Studies or Science, where the student is challenged build knowledge about history, geography, science, and the world around them through CSCA’s content-rich curriculum.
A Day in the Life of a Seventh Grade Student
A 7th grader’s day starts with a warm welcome at the door and time to meet with friends before school and then during Homeroom. After a quick stop at their locker, the student will head to their 1st period class: Social Studies. 2nd period is always the most exciting as the student will head to Specials classes with either PE, Art, Music, or Spanish instruction.
After Specials, the student will round out the morning with 3rd period Math and 4th period Science. Lunch is a great time to relax and socialize with friends while hanging out in the middle school courtyard. After lunch the student will have three more classes: Reading, Writing, and a rotating elective consisting of either Life Skills, Astronomy, or Logic. During Reading, the student is celebrated for displaying the Core Virtue of Service after they remained behind their classmates at lunch to pick up trash in the courtyard. This student drops off their Core Virtue slip in the office hoping to win an award at the next assembly and then heads off to meet their parent in Driveline to share the excitement of the day.
Whether your child is an elementary or middle school student, a day at CSCA is structured, joyful, and purposeful. Students build strong academic foundations, develop character, form meaningful friendships, and grow in confidence as they learn what it means to be thoughtful scholars and responsible members of a school community.
