Mrs. Welsch - 6th/7th/8th Higher Math

I am excited to start my 16th year of teaching, after taking a break to raise my girls! I have two daughters, Sara graduated from CSCA six years ago, and Rebecca graduated a year ago! Both have been at CSCA since Kindergarten!

I was born and raised in Germany. My dad was a teacher for Department of Defense Dependents Schools in Germany for 30+ years. I grew up in Germany and went to DoDDs schools until I graduated. I spent two years in Munich, Germany, earning my Associates in Arts degree from the University of Maryland. Then I transferred to Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington to finish my schooling. My mom, dad, brother, and sister still live in Europe!

I graduated from Whitworth with a Bachelor in Arts in Mathematics and certification to teach Secondary Math. After student teaching in Spokane, I took a job halfway through the year teaching Math at Anacortes High School, north of Seattle. I finished out the year and returned home to Germany, to start my dream of teaching in international schools in Europe! At a job fair in London, I was disappointed to find out that European international schools do not hire teachers without a lot of experience. Other schools around the world do hire new teachers, and I got hired to teach High School Math at the American International School of Kuwait! I taught there for 3 years. My plan was to move every 2-3 years to another country to teach! However, during my second year, I met my husband at the US Embassy. He was an Armor Officer assigned to the Embassy there. We married at the end of my second year and then we spent one more year there before getting stationed in Kansas. I taught math at Lansing HS in Kansas for a year, before we moved to Fort Carson. In Colorado Springs, I taught 3 years of High School Math at Evangelical Christian Academy. I stopped teaching to start our family.

I have really enjoyed teaching again, and I am privileged to teach at a great school!  I am excited to be teaching the higher sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Math again. This year I will also be teaching the highest 5th grade Math.  They will be completing Course 1, 6th grade Math.  It is going to be a great year!

In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, reading, and making handmade crafts through rubber stamping!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to stop by or send me an email! I spend most of my time up at the Middle School.
